Nina Barry is an internationally acclaimed artist and photographer currently living with her husband in Denver, Colorado. Born in Moscow, Russia, and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Nina earned her BFA in illustration from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art. Nina has taught drawing and color theory at the collegiate level and is the co-owner of From the Hip Photo, her award-winning photography company.
One of the most enticing aspects of her fine art pieces are the breadth of subject matter and styles employed to articulate Nina’s vision. Abstracted cloudscapes, nostalgic winter scenes, conceptual works on the nature of technology, dusky city skylines, and representational portraits all have equal footing in her repertoire, but all are held together by a cohesive, identifiable aesthetic. Each canvas is an opportunity to elucidate a different theme, a challenge Nina relishes.
Nina’s illustration work marries the playful spirit of childhood as well as the more complex emotional themes of adulthood. It is accessible yet distinctive, sportive yet layered. Whether capturing the friskiness of children at play on a snow mound or sketching a lonely cloud wandering through a foreboding forest, her illustrations maintain a signature style that comes from a traditional painterly background while maintaining a flair for simplicity.
Perhaps the most beloved pieces in Nina’s portfolio are her photographic works, distinctive for their photojournalistic sense of candor and artistry. Nina brings all of her fine arts training to bear in her photo compositions, melding a lighthearted, modern sensibility with her years of classical training.
For those seeking commissions on the fine art, illustration, or photography fronts, Nina is happy to discuss her availability and fees. She is presently open to projects of all sizes in a wide variety of approaches and may be contacted directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
